A felony suspect barricaded in an RV near Kendall lobbed multiple pipe bombs at deputies during a Fourth-of-July showdown before SWAT teams gassed him out and hauled him off in cuffs.
Multiple agencies raced to a rural property outside Kendall, Michigan after learning a wanted man was hiding in an RV on-site.
When deputies confirmed his identity, the fugitive set off an explosive inside the camper, sparking a fire he quickly doused.
SWAT officers and a Kalamazoo bomb squad were called as the suspect reportedly threatened to “shoot every officer,” brandishing a firearm-lookalike and tossing another pipe bomb toward the perimeter.
Tear gas volleys followed; each time, the man emerged to pitch yet another device, allowing officers to hit him with a less-lethal round and make the arrest without fatalities.
He was treated at a local hospital and will face a raft of charges once booked into the Van Buren County Jail, authorities said.
