Megastar Taylor Swift reportedly sent a cease and desist letter to a college student who was tracking her private jets. Swift’s legal team stated that she is living “in a constant state of fear for her personal safety” and that the student’s actions were considered “stalking and harassing behavior”.
The student, however, reportedly claimed that he was using publicly available information from the Federal Aviation Administration and that he did not intend any harm, but was simply sharing facts.
Swift’s legal team also mentioned that there is “no legitimate interest in or public need for this information, other than to stalk, harass, and exert dominion and control”.
The student’s lawyer reportedly argued that Swift, or any other jet owner, has no legal authority to block this kind of public information. The situation has sparked a debate about free speech and the use of publicly available data.
