According to the court documents, the funeral home owners allegedly stored bodies in “unimaginable conditions” and deceived families about their loved ones’ ashes.

Additionally, Colorado has been reported to have some of the weakest rules for funeral homes in the nation, with no routine inspections, making it challenging for authorities to effectively oversee the funeral home industry.

The concerns raised by a county coroner about the mistreatment of bodies were also reportedly not adequately addressed.

These factors, along with the alleged misuse of funds taken from grieving families, contributed to the delayed action by the authorities
