REPORT (ABC10): Jacob Smith, a McDonald’s manager in Yuba City, is reportedly recovering from second-degree burns after
a coworker allegedly threw hot oil on him last Saturday.

This video reports on a disturbing incident at a Yuba City McDonald’s, where 20-year-old shift manager Jacob Smith was attacked by a coworker who allegedly threw hot oil on him (0:00-0:44).


Key Details:

The Victim: Jacob Smith sustained second-degree burns covering 22% of his body, specifically affecting his upper torso and face (0:33, 0:52-0:56).

His mother, describes him as a positive person and a “god-fearing” young man (0:12-0:24).

Legal Status: The suspect is currentlv in custodv at the Sutter County Jail without bail. During his arraignment, he was held to answer on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, and serious felony assault resulting in great bodily injury (1:21-1:46).

The Suspect: A 23-year-old was identified as the suspect. Following the attack, the Sutter County Sheriffs Office initially issued a missing person flyer for the suspect, citing unspecified  vulnerabilities.

He was reportedly arrested shortly after midnight on June 1st (1:13-1 :19).


The victim’s mother has reportedly set up a GoFundMe page to assist with her son’s medical expenses as he focuses on his recovery (1:47-1:56)
