CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Off-Duty Officer Fatally Shoots Man Attacking Woman

A shocking altercation captured on surveillance video shows an off-duty police officer fatally shooting a man who was violently attacking a woman in a backyard. The officer reportedly intervened after witnessing the man slamming the woman to the ground, punching her, and attempting to strangle her.

According to media reports, after separating the victim and escorting her to safety, the attacker pursued them and engaged in a physical altercation with the officer, slamming his head against a vehicle and placing him in a chokehold.

The officer’s spouse reportedly retrieved a firearm during the struggle, and after freeing himself, the officer identified himself as law enforcement and commanded the man to back down.

When the attacker ignored commands and advanced toward the victim again, both the officer and his spouse discharged their weapons, fatally striking him. The victim, who sustained severe injuries including facial swelling and strangulation marks, told authorities she believed she would have been killed if no one had intervened.
