CAMERA PEEPING SHOCKER! Ex-Wife Accused of Livestreaming 700+ Hours Inside San Diego Home

REPORT: The district attorney’s office reportedly says it’s considering charges after the family says their cameras were accessed without permission.

Ring-cam footage allegedly captures an ex-spouse spying on her former partner’s new family—allegedly including some deeply personal moments and private doctor calls—while prosecutors weigh wiretapping and stalking charges.

A Rancho Peñasquitos household says its smart-home security turned into a nightmare when the blue record light lit up without warning. Moments later, a familiar voice echoed through the living-room camera: the ex-wife, still linked to the Ring account, had allegedly live-streamed more than 700 hours of the family’s most intimate moments.

According to media reports nvestigators seized clips showing the woman speaking through the devices and scrolling archives that included financial chats and virtual medical visits. San Diego police have recommended charges of eavesdropping, wiretapping and stalking; the district attorney is reviewing the case.

Key Details

  • Discovery: July 2025; the fiancée noticed the blue recording light while sitting in the living room.
  • Devices tapped: Three indoor Ring cams—living room, upstairs hall, child’s bedroom.
  • Alleged access: Over 700 hours streamed; at least 13 clips captured the ex-wife’s voice.
  • Account loophole: Ex-wife reportedly remained an authorized user after the divorce, retaining remote control.
  • Legal status: Temporary restraining order in place; felony charges under review, according to media reports.

How to Lock Down Your Smart Cameras

  • Ex-partners still on the account → Audit Shared Users and revoke outdated access monthly.
  • Unknown devices connected → Check the “Linked Devices” list and remove anything unfamiliar.
  • Easy-guess passwords → Switch to 15-character passphrases and enable multi-factor authentication.
  • Unencrypted cloud clips → Toggle End-to-End Encryption in the Ring settings.
  • Hidden access after platform changes → Re-review permissions whenever a service changes ownership or merges accounts.

Privacy-First Smart-Home Tips

  • Avoid indoor cams unless essential; cover lenses when not actively needed.
  • Schedule quarterly account check-ups for users, passwords and firmware.
  • Put smart devices on a separate guest Wi-Fi network.
  • Consider systems with local storage to reduce cloud-hack risks.
