REPORT: Late-night calm turned violent when a Baltimore pastor battled a teen gunman during an Inner Harbor carjacking on June 29. Officers later cornered three juveniles – ages 15, 16 and 19 – who now face robbery and weapons charges.

The Ambush at Inner Harbor

A visiting pastor says he battled a ski-masked youth who pistol-whipped him in an Inner Harbor carjacking and stole his sedan outside an East Pratt Street seafood spot—the ambush details first reported by multiple local media outlets covering the case.

A funeral trip to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor nearly turned fatal when a Connecticut faith leader parked for dinner on East Pratt Street. Within two minutes, he says a teenage boy tapped on the driver-side window, claiming his phone was dead. Sensing danger, the pastor tried to pull away but froze as the teen yanked up a ski mask and brandished a handgun.

According to surveillance video, the would-be victim opened the door, took a blow to the head, then lunged. The two rolled onto the sidewalk for roughly 20 seconds before the pastor—realizing how young the assailant was—paused and urged him to stop. The teen broke free, fled with the gun, and roared off in the pastor’s Toyota. City officers located the car hours later and arrested three youths—ages 15, 16, and 19—without incident.

Officials urge anyone with additional footage or information to contact Baltimore police; anonymous tips may qualify for cash rewards.
