TESLA ROAD RAGE: Driver Accused of Intentionally Killing Motorcyclist on Crowded California Freeway

REPORT: CHP investigators say a Tesla driver intentionally ran down a motorcyclist who died at the scene.

California Highway Patrol reportedly says a 22-year-old sped his Model Y into a BMW bike during rush hour, fled on foot, and now faces first-degree murder and hit-and-run charges.

A routine Monday commute on southbound Interstate 805 in Chula Vista exploded into violence when a red 2023 Tesla Model Y barreled into a 2025 BMW motorcycle in the carpool lane around 8 p.m., tossing the rider onto the asphalt where he died instantly.

Investigators allege the Tesla’s driver, identified as a 22-year-old San Diego manintentionally swerved into the motorcycle before slamming a Ram 1500 pickup carrying six passengers, who sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The suspect reportedly bolted from the mangled EV on foot but was tackled by responding troopers moments later. He is being held without bail on first-degree murder, hit-and-run causing injury, and other felony counts, with CHP’s Major Crimes Unit leading the probe.

Authorities shut down the southbound lanes for more than 15 hours, snarling traffic into Tuesday afternoon while forensic teams documented debris strewn across several hundred feet of roadway. Preliminary witness statements and dash-cam clips suggest the Tesla had been weaving at speeds approaching 100 mph before impact.
