Bering Air flight carrying 10 people disappears from radar near Nome, Alaska
A desperate and urgent search is underway in Alaska after a small plane carrying 10 people mysteriously vanished over Norton Sound during a routine flight. The Bering Air Cessna 208B Grand Caravan was reportedly traveling between Unalakleet and Nome when it disappeared, leaving families and rescue crews anxiously awaiting answers.
The aircraft was last said to have been detected on radar approximately 12 miles offshore, with communication lost just minutes before its scheduled arrival. Harsh weather conditions, including freezing drizzle and near-whiteout visibility, have severely hampered search efforts.
According to media reports, ground teams are combing the coastline, while U.S. Coast Guard aircraft equipped with advanced technology are scouring the open waters.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid forming independent search parties due to dangerous weather conditions.
The cause of the disappearance remains unknown, and the incident has sent shockwaves through Alaska’s tight-knit communities as rescue operations continue.
