An Alaska woman has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for orchestrating the murder of her best friend in a catfish murder-for-hire plot.

The woman was 18 at the time, and was reportedly convinced by a man she met online to carry out the murder in exchange for a $9 million payment.

The murder took place in June 2019 near Thunderbird Falls, and the accused killer and her accomplices recorded the killing in photos and videos.

Despite her guilty plea and her defense’s request for an 80-year sentence with 20 years suspended, the judge handed down the maximum sentence of 99 years, stating that Brehmer showed no remorse for the “tragic and senseless” murder-for-hire.

The individual who allegedly orchestrated the deadly scheme, reportedly posed as a millionaire named “Tyler,” and was also sentenced to 99 years for his alleged role in the scheme.

Two other suspected accomplices are awaiting sentencing and trial. The case has drawn widespread attention due to its disturbing nature and the use of online deception to manipulate the perpetrators into committing the crime.
