How a Housekeeper Reportedly Stole $1M in Jewelry from a Vegas Hotel
A housekeeper named is accused of stealing over $1 million worth of jewelry from a hotel room at the Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas. According to police reports:
- Three male guests reported that 14 luxury items totaling $768,400, including Rolex watches, diamond chains, and a gold ring, were missing from their room after requesting housekeeping services.
- Housekeeping records showed that the housekeeper cleaned the room during the time the jewelry went missing, accessing it with her staff key for around 20 minutes.
- Phone records revealed the housekeeper was on a call with her boyfriend, an inmate, during which she allegedly described finding the jewelry in the room and planned to steal it.
- The housekeeper was recorded telling her boyfriend she found an Audemars Piguet watch, a Rolex, and other jewelry, asking “Should I take them all?” to which he responded affirmatively.
- After the theft, she and her boyfriend reportedly discussed keeping the stolen items on subsequent calls.
The housekeeper was arrested on May 15 and charged with grand larceny, residential burglary, and conspiracy to commit burglary.
