LAPD seizes more than 2,800 boxes of LEGOs in massive retail theft bust
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested two individuals in connection with a significant Lego theft ring operating across Southern California.
During a search of one Long Beach residence, authorities seized over 2,800 boxes of Lego toys, with individual box values ranging from $20 to over $1,000.
One of those arrested was reportedly previously identified as a suspect in a string of thefts from a retail store in San Pedro in December.
She was observed allegedly stealing items from the same retailer in Lakewood and Torrance. Potential buyers were reportedly present having been drawn by advertisements placed on internet sales sites.
The LAPD has been investigating a series of Lego merchandise thefts totaling over $100,000 in losses from various stores across Southern California.
