A Georgia father and son had the shock of their lives when they picked up a hitchhiker who turned out to be a suspected murderer.

The pair, who wished to remain anonymous reportedly said that they saw the man walking along Highway 27 in Polk County.

They decided to give him a lift, thinking he was just a traveler in need. But they soon regretted their decision when they noticed a terrible smell coming from his backpack.

The hitchhiker, who identified himself as Bryan, said he had been camping and had some rotten food in his bag. He also claimed he was heading to West Virginia to see his family.

The father and son did not believe him and became suspicious of his behavior. They decided to drop him off at a gas station and call the police. They later learned that the hitchhiker was actually a suspect in the murder of a missing woman from Forsyth County.

Police found her remains in a wooded area near Dawsonville on July 15, 2023. They also repirtedly found the suspect’s DNA on her body. Police believe he killed the victim during a robbery attempt at her salon.

They also believe he cut off her head and kept it in his backpack as a trophy.
