Hundreds of TESLA vehicles parked outside Chesterfield Mall. Why?

The Chesterfield Mall in Missouri is set to close for demolition and redevelopment. Tesla has rented parking space at the mall to store hundreds of its vehicles, estimated around 300-400, as the nearby Tesla dealership does not have enough capacity to park all the cars they are bringing in.

The vehicles parked at the mall include various Tesla models like the Cybertruck, in colors like red, blue, gray, white and black. Tesla has had an agreement with the mall’s owner to use the mall’s parking lot for vehicle storage until the mall closes.

Reasons for Parking at the Mall

The main reason cited is that the Tesla dealership in the nearby Chesterfield Valley does not have enough space to accommodate their growing inventory of new vehicles.

By renting parking space at the soon-to-be-demolished mall, Tesla can temporarily store the excess vehicles until they are sold or moved elsewhere.

There has been speculation that this could be due to oversupply or reduced demand for Tesla vehicles. However, the mall’s owner states it is simply because Tesla needs additional parking space beyond what their dealership can provide.
