A Washington, D.C., man, is suing Powerball and the D.C. Lottery for refusing to pay a $340 million prize after his numbers appeared on the D.C. Lottery’s website but did not match the numbers drawn.
The man reportedly bought a Powerball ticket with a personal number combination, and when he checked the website the next day, he saw his numbers and believed he had won.
However, the numbers posted on the website were different from those drawn.
The lawsuit claims that a contractor’s mistake led to the wrong numbers being posted on the website.
Despite not having the correct numbers, Cheeks is seeking to claim the prize, arguing that a similar case in Iowa resulted in the winnings being paid out after a mistake was admitted to by a contractor.
