A grocery store manager has reportedly been charged with embezzling at least $750,000 from a supermarket in Michigan.
He allegedly stole the money from the store’s self-checkout kiosks, to which he had access.
The suspect reportedly scheduled himself as the only manager responsible for depositing daily cash, even on his days off, allowing him to take the money.
An audit revealed discrepancies between the cash sales and deposits, with an approximate loss amount of $900,000, of which $750,000 was attributed to the suspected theft.
When confronted, he allegedly admitted to the embezzlement.
The former manager was charged with one count of Embezzlement over $100,000 and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.
He faces a maximum of 20 years or more to life in prison. An arraignment date has not been set.
