Girl dies, boy hospitalized after becoming TRAPPED in sand at South Florida beach

Tragically, a seven-year-old girl has died, and an eight-year-old boy is currently hospitalized following a collapse of a deep sand hole dug during playtime at a beach in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida.

According to reports, both children were part of a group that included adults who were excavating a hole approximately five to six feet deep near the 4400 block of El Mar Drive.

When the hole unexpectedly caved in, the boy ended up partially submerged under the sand, while the girl was fully covered beneath him.

Emergency services used tools like shovels and support structures to prevent further cave-ins before rushing them to nearby hospitals; however, despite efforts en route, the girl did not survive.

As of now, the boy remains in stable condition at the hospital alongside his mother. Local authorities are conducting an investigation through the Broward Sheriff’s Office regarding this tragic incident.
