Android users have been cautioned about a surge in malicious software targeting their bank accounts, with over 88,500 Android banking trojans detected in 2023 alone.
One particularly harmful app identified was “RecoverFiles,” disguised as a file recovery service.
These trojans work by stealing passwords and login credentials through keystroke capture, gaining access to personal information by requesting permissions, and intercepting SMS messages to bypass two-factor authentication.
To protect against such threats, users are advised to promptly remove flagged apps, download only from trusted sources after checking reviews, be cautious with app permissions, and utilize reputable security apps for malware detection and prevention.
