Long-Nosed Dogs Live Longer, Study Finds

Small, long-nosed dog breeds tend to live longer, with an average lifespan of 13.3 years, according to a study that analyzed data from 584,734 dogs belonging to 155 breeds.

The study found that female dogs had a slightly higher life expectancy of 12.7 years compared to 12.4 years for males. Additionally, purebred dog breeds had a greater life expectancy than crossbreeds, at 12.7 years compared to 12 years.

The research also revealed that larger dogs tended to have shorter lives than smaller dogs, and the length of a breed’s nose was a significant factor in their lifespan.
