An American man reportedly admitted guilt to charges of murder and sexual assault following an alleged attack on two U.S. women near Germany’s Neuschwanstein castle.
The 31-year-old defendant reportedly acknowledged these crimes during the opening statements of his trial, although defendants in the German legal system do not officially enter pleas.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the alleged assailant encountered the two young women—aged 21 and 22—while hiking and subsequently pushed both down a ravine; one suffered fatal injuries, while the other survivor endured severe trauma.
If convicted, the defendant may face life imprisonment under German law.
