One person died, and two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries following a fatal car accident where a Hyundai Elantra crashed through a barrier while exiting the Ninth Street tunnel’s westbound ramp on I-395 in Southwest Washington, D.C.
The impact caused the Hyundai to flip over and land on top of another vehicle—a Lexus—which subsequently rolled over as well before striking yet another vehicle.
The deceased individual was reportedly driving the Hyundai; his body was ejected during the collision.
Both passengers involved – a second occupant in the Hyundai and the driver of the Lexus – were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Investigations by the Metropolitan Police Department remain ongoing regarding the cause of the initial strike against the Jersey wall leading to this tragic event.
