Yahoo Finance: Why are big companies forcing job applicants to endure a strange personality test that turns them into blue avatars?

Large companies like Olive Garden and FedEx are reportedly using a personality test as part of their hiring process, which features blue avatars and is provided by Paradox.ai.

This test is designed to assess applicants’ Big 5 personality traits. Some applicants find the process bizarre and even insulting, as it adds an extra layer of complexity to the job application.

Paradox.ai has several billion-dollar companies as clients, but not all of them use the personality test feature.

The use of blue avatars in these tests is not unique to these companies; other organizations, like London Business School (LBS), have also implemented interactive simulations with avatars to prepare students for job interviews, partnering with Attensi to create a more engaging and realistic experience.

The reasoning behind these personality tests is that companies can use them to filter and assess candidates, even if they claim to have staffing shortages.

Some applicants have expressed concerns about the tests’ dystopian feel.
