Complex: Country Music Stations Already Refusing to Play Beyoncé’s Country Songs

Country music stations are facing criticism for allegedly refusing to play Beyoncé’s new country songs.

The controversy arose when a fan’s request to play Beyoncé’s song “Texas Hold ‘Em” was denied by a country music radio station in Oklahoma, KYKC.

The station’s general manager defended the decision, stating that they are a small market station and typically follow the trends of bigger stations.

He mentioned that they are not in a position to break an artist and that the songs need to chart higher for them to be added to their rotation.

However, the station later shared a picture of “Texas Hold ‘Em” on their schedule, indicating a potential change in their decision.
