ESPN Bet is set to launch in New York after Penn Entertainment acquired Wynn Interactive’s sports betting license for $25 million.
This move reportedly comes after Penn missed out on the licenses the state awarded in 2021. Pending regulatory approval, ESPN Bet is expected to enter the New York market, which is one of the largest regulated online sports wagering markets in North America.
The acquisition of the license will allow ESPN Bet to operate in New York, joining the existing online sportsbooks in the state.
The launch is part of Penn’s efforts to grow ESPN Bet across the U.S., and New York will be the 18th state where ESPN Bet is available.
The deal is seen as an important development that will bring ESPN Bet to a significant market, providing new and potentially formidable competition in the nation’s biggest sports betting market.
