What happened?
According to the Houston Police Department, the incident happened around 11 a.m. on the 8600 block of West Bellfort Avenue.
The victim, a 67-year-old man, was returning from a grocery store and parked his car in the lot of a meat market. He was approached by two men who asked him for money.
He refused and tried to walk away, but the men followed him and attacked him.
They reportedly punched and kicked him several times, knocking him to the ground. They then took his wallet, keys, and phone and fled the scene.
How is the victim doing?
The victim was taken to a hospital with severe injuries, including a broken nose, a fractured eye socket, and a brain bleed.
He was put on life support and remained in critical condition. His family said he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia and often got confused. They said he was a kind and gentle person who did not deserve such a violent attack.
Who are the suspects?
The suspects were described as two men in their 20s or 30s, wearing dark clothing and hoodies. They were seen driving a white four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima. Police released surveillance video and images of the suspects and their vehicle, and asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
