[WTAE|MUGSHOT] From inside a home in Monongahela, Washington County, an 18-year-old woman texted 911 that she was being held against her will, kept chained and handcuffed.
Her plea for help Sunday evening led to the arrest of her alleged captor and escape from conditions she said she endured for nearly a year.
“It was horrific to hear and I was disheartened to hear it. Obviously, the situation is a terrible situation,'” Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.
Neighbors say their block was filled with police cars with lights flashing and a SWAT team making its move early Monday morning.
“I’m shocked. Because we thought all these were abandoned, not abandoned but empty,” said Dave Savarino, a Monongahela resident. “I don’t know how long that guy was there.”
“I heard them say twice, ‘Come out, the resident at 717, come out with your hands up,’ Juan Rodriguez, who lives near the scene, told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.
“It was a little unnerving. I mean, I saw policemen lined down close to Seventh Street down here, all the way to the green light. And it was nothing but policemen with their flashing lights.” [FULLSTORY]
