[KOAT|VIDEO] After devastating storms moved through Alaska, a couple went on a walk that ended with a prehistoric discovery.

Joseph Nassuk and his wife Andrea told KTUU that they set out on their walk to look for bones and artifacts.

They certainly didn't come home empty-handed. Two weeks ago, the couple came across a fully intact mammoth femur. Aside from toe bones, vertebrae and parts of skulls, the mammoth femur actually isn't the largest find the couple has made recently.

Joseph said the biggest discovery was a blue mammoth tusk that weighs 105 pounds. Not only was this find their largest, but it's likely the most valuable.

Because only 2% of fossilized tusks are blue because of an iron phosphate called vivianite, it can be worth "somewhere upwards of $20,000 to $70,000," he said. [FULLSTORY]
