Iowa Girl Who Said She Killed The Man Who Raped Her Receives Sentence

[KCCI] Tuesday afternoon, a Polk County judge sentenced Lewis to five years probation and a deferred judgment.
The deferred judgment means this will be expunged from Lewis' record. But during her five years probation, Lewis will stay at Fresh Start Women's Center in Des Moines. Lewis was originally charged in 2020 for first-degree murder after stabbing 37-year-old Zachary Brooks in Des Moines. Lewis said she was a victim of human trafficking and said Brooks raped her several times before she killed him.
